We don’t want to be writing blogs and books just so we can say we write blogs and books. For us, it’s not about the product as much as it is the process. The idea of posting a blog entry because it’s time to post a blog entry doesn’t appeal to us at all.
Oftentimes, our inspiration for blogging comes from people just like you who connect with us either by sending a story through Twitter, YouTube, or Facebook, or catching us in one of our favorite coffee shops.
This recent line of questioning inspired today’s blog entry:
“Why do you feel you should be the ones launching this God Makes Lemonade website? What makes you feel you can become the epicenter of encouragement?”
Now there’s a couple of thought-provoking questions! They’re also important and fascinating .
And easy to answer.
We’ve been doing this all our lives. Our leader, Don Jacobson, didn’t just wake up one morning and decide, “I’m going to become a God-Makes-Lemonade, encouraging kind of guy.”
If you knew Don you would say, “It’s what Don’s been doing all his life. That’s who Don is.” In every career he’s pursued, from publishing to agenting, his strength has been challenging and encouraging people to hang in there and look for the great things that might happen.
His favorite stories to publish have been stories of encouragement. Stories that compel readers toward seeing the “rest of the story” in their own lives.
It’s what Don’s always returned to. Wind him up, and he’ll start telling you why life is good, or better than you may think, and how you can do something you never dreamed of if you just don’t quit.
And the rest our team heartily agree with him.
Questions: What would people say is your strength, the one thing you always return to? May we encourage you to pursue that as your life calling?
