You can Google “Best Lemonade Recipes” and find dozens of sites claiming to know the secret ingredient for the “greatest lemonade you’ve ever tasted.”
But when you think about it, how many secrets can there be to lemonade? Isn’t it about fresh-squeezed lemons, cold water, and sugar?
Here at God Makes Lemonade, we’re all about making lemonade from the “scratch” of real life. We’ve discovered that there aren’t any secrets, but there are three elements you need to make lemonade when life gives you lemons:
1. Fresh Perspective. Rather than asking, “Why did this have to happen to me?” ask, “I wonder if something good might come of this?”
2. Time. Give life a chance to work itself out. Before you push the panic and despair buttons, remind yourself that this is only the beginning of the story. The conclusion still needs to be written.
3. Hope. This is the sugar of a Lemonade Story. The common thread in every Lemonade Story we’ve heard is hope.
Questions: Which of these three seems most missing from your life right now? And how can we encourage you?

Lemon juice and rind are used to make marmalade and lemon liqueur. Lemon slices and lemon rind are used as a garnish for food and drinks. Lemon zest, the grated outer rind of the fruit, is used to add flavor to baked goods, puddings, rice and other dishes..”;;

Too bad Joanna is not joyful. Perhaps we all need to remember to “rejoice in the Lord” and not our circumstances. He is our joy! “The joy of the Lord” is our strength.
Hi Jan–We’ve learned it’s difficult for people to just have joy when life is full of lemons. It’s usually a long and painful process. Some people can simply will joy from a painful circumstance. Most can’t.
God may make lemonade but he doing a crappy shop everywhere else. Corruption, child pornography (thats a kind god!) raping, drugs, crime, and then there is always sickness.
Gotta love it. Keep believeing in the fairy tale. now I am moving on to making lemonade with lemons.
Hi Joanna–Our experience tells us that just about every “God Makes Lemonade” story we hear is from people who felt a lot like you feel right now at some time in the process. Your words let us know that you care deeply about the evil in this world. What we’ve discovered is that the horrible mess and hopelessness of the big story of this evil world is often punctuated by the smaller, more personal stories of encounters of hope and encouragement that argue for what you call a fairy tale, but what we feel is evidence of a God who cares for the people in the big story.
